It was for the very first time that the Institute organized an alumni meet on its behalf. The meet took place from December 30th 2015 to January 01, 2016. The dates coincided with the new year day and so the number of registrations were less than expected. More than 150 alumni registered for the meet. However, it was convincing that something of this type started for the first time in the Institute. Drugs Controller General of Government of India, GN Singh a pass out of 1981 batch and minister of state for railways, Manoj Sinha, a pass-out of 1979 batch, both were the guest of honour while former head of National Resource Centre for Value Education in Engineering, IIT-Delhi, Prof. RR Gaur inaugurated the meet. Lectures relating to human values and all that stuff was a little boring for the alumni but instantaneous plans rolled out by the Hospitality Team which included Subah-e- Banaras and Ganga Arti were a wonderful experience for them. Every alumnus who visited the college in the meet found some or the other way to relive the old memories. It was through interaction with the students, by visiting their hostels and respective departments and by experiencing once again the enchanting beauty of Banaras. Distinguished alumni awards were given to Prof. Brij N Agrawal for academics, Jay Chaudhry for profession, Manoj Sinha for public life and Anil Bharadwaj for research and development.
An alumni meet of 1990 batch was organised from 26th to 28th December 2015. It was one of those tradition silver jubilee meets that have always been organised in the college. It was again fully organised by the alumni. Our alumni Rohit Raj Gupta from Varanasi and Aditya Kumar Sharma from Jaipur were extensively involved in organizing the meet. It is always a wonderful experience when a batch reunites after 25 years. So definitely the alumni found the meet very rejuvenating. They had a good time with the student coordinators from the college. They couldn’t interact much with the IIT Junta here as the college was closed at that time however on the last day they interacted with some students who had returned back to the college. A good initiative of ‘Student Mentorship Programme’ was discussed and started by some of our alumni in the meet which will definitely be very fruitful for the students in the upcoming years. The batch had some issues with the administration but it was well-structured and they enjoyed it to the fullest.
An alumni meet 1979 batch was organised from 2 nd to 4 th October 2015.They celebrated their silver jubilee in 2004 and came back after 35 years for the meet again. It was fully organised by them. The IIT guest house was fully packed and all arrangements were made there itself. There was a good interaction between students and alumni. An interactive session was organised on the second day in the guest house itself. In the session, the common IIT junta could approach the alumni for guidance or any other reason so concerned. One of the alumnus from Department of Ceramic Engineering personally gave a talk in his department. The alumni found the administration a little unresponsive, but overall the alumni meet was a grand success and very fruitful for students as a whole.

"With a legacy spanning almost a hundred years, IIT BHU has given the world individuals, who with their virtues and flair have left impeccable footprints on the sands of time. SAIC is an attempt and a platform to muster all the scattered pearls that were once stringed together in the necklace of this institute, and let them contribute to the enhancement of the college and its students."
